The Calvert Cavaliers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their tenth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 35-34 to Patuxent. If Calvert was looking for revenge after losing 32-27 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.
Despite the defeat, Calvert saw an underclassman step up: Brooke Kidwell dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 rebounds. Kidwell hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for four straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Graham, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
Patuxent's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ailish Fockler led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Brooke Domonkos, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds.
Calvert dropped their record down to 2-15 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 21.2 points per game. As for Patuxent, their victory ended a 12-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-13.
Calvert will stay at home for another game and welcome the Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th.
