The Stoneman Douglas Eagles will challenge the Western Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Stoneman Douglas will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
Stoneman Douglas is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They never let Coral Glades get on the board and left with a 6-0 win. Considering the Eagles have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
The result came thanks to Daniel Tartaglia's shutout, as he gave up just a hit and racked up 18 Ks. Those 18 strikeouts set a new season-high mark for him.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cade Raley, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Rizzo, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Stoneman Douglas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coral Glades only posted a batting average of .045.
Meanwhile, Western's rock-solid pitchers showed up for the team's fourth consecutive shutout on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Taravella. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Wildcats have posted against the Trojans since April 4, 2023.
Western also got a great performance from Jimmy Huard as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Huard also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the Wildcats are 5-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 7-11 otherwise.
At the plate, Western saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jorge Falagan, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Stoneman Douglas' record now sits at 22-2. As for Western, their record is now 12-13.
Stoneman Douglas skirted past Western 8-7 when the teams last played back in February. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
