After having lost a blowout in their previous game against San Benito, the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Bears were happy to have found some success on Friday. They walked away with a 43-31 win over Economedes. For Pharr-San Juan-Alamo, this counts as revenge for the 41-25 defeat Economedes walked away with the last time they faced one another back in January of 2023.
Jackie Molina continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with seven steals and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. AVA CASTILLO was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Nirel Salinas and Gabriela Maldonado certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Salinas scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and two steals, while Maldonado scored seven points along with three steals.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo's win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-17. As for Economedes, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo will be playing at home against La Joya at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (La Joya is ranked 1127th, while Pharr-San Juan-Alamo is ranked 1143rd). As for Economedes, they will head out on the road to take on Edinburg at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Edinburg is coming into the contest hot, having won their last nine games.
