On Tuesday, the Fayetteville Bulldogs faced the Northside Grizzlies in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Fayetteville narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Northside 59-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Northside's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erianna Gooden, who scored 25 points along with nine rebounds. The match was Gooden's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Cherish Blackmon, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three blocks.
The win makes it two in a row for Fayetteville and bumps their season record up to 5-4. As for Northside, their loss dropped their record down to 8-2.
Fayetteville is on the road again on December 28th and play against Southlake Carroll at 3:00 p.m. on December 28th. Northside will be home for the holidays to greet Har-Ber at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Har-Ber will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Arkansas Rankings (they are ranked 37th, while Northside is ranked second).
