Huntley is a perfect 10-0 against Dundee-Crown since September of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Red Raiders will head out to take on the Chargers at 5:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last four times Huntley and Crystal Lake Central have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Thursday. The Red Raiders walked away with a 2-0 win over the Tigers. The victory continues a trend for the Red Raiders in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now won three in a row.
Huntley easily took the first set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-20.
Meanwhile, Dundee-Crown narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past McHenry 2-1.
It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Dundee-Crown got the one that really mattered. The final score came out to 25-21, 24-26, 25-13.
Huntley better keep an eye on Nina Marcant. She was instrumental in Dundee-Crown's win, getting 15 digs and six assists. Those six assists gave Marcant a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tamia Ford, who had ten digs.
Huntley's record now sits at 9-3. As for Dundee-Crown, their record is now 5-10.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's matchup: Huntley has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 5.8 aces per game. However, it's not like Dundee-Crown struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.6 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Huntley was able to grind out a solid victory over Dundee-Crown when the teams last played back in August, winning 2-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Raiders since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
