Basketball Recap: Calumet's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Calumet came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past the Hydro-Eakly Bobcats with points to spare, taking the game 72-58. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Chieftains also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Calumet pushed their record up to 14-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for Hydro-Eakly, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 13-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calumet will venture away from home to square off against Southwest Covenant at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Southwest Covenant's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Hydro-Eakly, they will head out to challenge Minco at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hydro-Eakly knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four contests -- so hopefully Minco likes a good challenge.
