Softball Recap: Westwood Wins Going Away Against Norwood

Westwood was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Norwood on Monday. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 15-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wolverines, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.

Bridget Mulkeen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Izzy Walsh was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Amelia O'Neill, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Westwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Westwood is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Norwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-7.
