The American Prep WV Eagles will face off against the Water Canyon Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Last Thursday, in a tight contest that could have gone either way, American Prep WV made off with a 69-68 win over Non Varsity Opponent.
American Prep WV found their leader in sophomore Chris Monroy, who posted 25 points and eight boards. Another player making a difference was Judo Oman, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds.
American Prep WV smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 32 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 92-33, which was the final score in Water Canyon's tilt against Kanab on Wednesday. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Cowboys are ranked 38th).
American Prep WV will have to keep a close watch on Domanik La Corti and Dynonte Blackmore, a pair of players who had a big impact on Water Canyon's prior game. La Corti put up 13 points, while Blackmore scored six points. What's more, Blackmore also racked up two assists, the most he's had since back in November of 2024.
American Prep WV's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-6. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.0 points over those games. As for Water Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: American Prep WV has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 39.3 boards per game. However, it's not like Water Canyon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 26.9 rebounds.
