Eden Christian Academy is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They blew past Homer-Center 16-6. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Eden Christian Academy.
The team relied heavily on Brady Hull, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Josh Tilden was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Clarion Area's hitters rose to the challenge against a Centurions pitching crew that boasted an average of only 3.25 runs allowed on Thursday. The Bobcats put the hurt on Greensburg Central Catholic with a sharp 15-5 victory.
Dylan Smail was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up a single earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Clarion Area let Billy Kahle and Wyatt Watterson run wild. Kahle went 4-for-5 with five RBI and one run, while Watterson got on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, Watterson posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Hindman, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Clarion Area has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Eden Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 16-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Eden Christian Academy has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Clarion Area struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
