The Hunter Wolverines's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 62-48 to West Jordan. Hunter was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as West Jordan apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in January.
Hunter's loss came despite strong showings from Kalysa Ng and Destini Perez. Ng scored 20 points along with five assists and four steals, while Perez scored 11 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Perez has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Mamakoula Tuitupou Kutu, who scored eight points along with 15 rebounds.
West Jordan was led to victory by Giselle Muffett and Rochelle Afo Manuma. Muffett scored 24 points along with five assists and two steals, while Afo Manuma dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Muffett has scored at least a third of West Jordan's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Atyana Crosby, who scored four points along with nine rebounds and four steals.
Hunter has been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for West Jordan, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-7.
Hunter will be playing in front of their home fans against Granger at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Granger is coming into the game with eight straight defeats on the road, meaning Hunter will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. As for West Jordan, they will be playing at home against Kearns at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Jordan has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 597 points over their last nine contests.
