Seaside has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Palo Alto Vikings at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
Seaside lost a heartbreaker to Monterey when they met back in September of 2021, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Seaside was dealt a 50-13 loss at the hands of Monterey. While losing is never fun, Seaside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 523rd, while Monterey is ranked 210th).
Meanwhile, Palo Alto didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against King's Academy on Thursday, but they still walked away with a 34-28 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Palo Alto.
Joseph Kessler was the offensive standout of the match as he rushed for 134 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries. Kessler's longest rush was for an incredible 74 yards. Jeremiah Madrigal also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Palo Alto's defense and their three sacks. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Anthony Landa mendoza.
With Seaside's loss and Monterey's win, both teams now sport identical 7-3 records.
Seaside was dealt a bruising 34-6 defeat at the hands of Palo Alto in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Seaside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
