Baseball Recap: Trezevant Picks Up Sixth Consecutive Victory

Trezevant had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.6 runs) and they went ahead and made it six on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the KIPP Collegiate phoenix 5-3. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-5 last Wednesday.

Zavion Evans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. Evans was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with six stolen bases and two runs. He has become a key player for Trezevant: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-5-1 otherwise.

In other batting news, Jaden Ivey was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrion Taylor, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with three stolen bases.

Trezevant always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .609. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .556 or higher in ten consecutive games.

Trezevant's win bumped their record up to 10-6-1. As for KIPP Collegiate, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-3.

Coming up, Trezevant will host Bolton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in the Bears' favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while the Wildcats have been banged up by six consecutive losses on the road. As for KIPP Collegiate, they will venture away from home to face off against Overton at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
