Tatum is 9-1 against West Rusk since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Tatum will host West Rusk at 7:00 p.m. Tatum will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
Tatum barely beat Gladewater the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Tatum's pitcher stepped up to hand Gladewater a 13-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven matches by eight runs or more so far this season.
Cooper Whiteus was incredible, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Downs, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Tatum always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Gladewater only posted an OBP of .250.
Meanwhile, West Rusk hadn't done well against Troup recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. West Rusk walked away with a 7-4 win over Troup.
Jason Reasoner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because West Rusk is 5-0-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-8 otherwise. Reasoner was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Troy Hunley, who went 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was his first of the season.
Tatum's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-4. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for West Rusk, their victory bumped their record up to 6-8-1.
Tatum was able to grind out a solid win over West Rusk when the teams last played back in May of 2024, winning 6-1. Will Tatum repeat their success, or does West Rusk has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
