Baseball Recap: Evansville Reitz Takes a Loss

Evansville Reitz was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of the Evansville Memorial Tigers. Surprisingly, this marked the Panthers' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Talan Willett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on four hits. He has become a key player for Evansville Reitz: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-9 otherwise.

Evansville Reitz's loss dropped their record down to 5-10. As for Evansville Memorial, the victory (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 11-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Evansville Reitz will head out to take on Heritage Hills at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Patriots' pitching crew has only allowed 3.6 runs per game this season, so the Panthers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Evansville Memorial, they will head out on the road to square off against Vincennes Lincoln at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
