The Ridge Spring-Monetta Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They were dealt a 75-5 loss at the hands of Denmark-Olar. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Ridge Spring-Monetta in their matchups with Denmark-Olar: they've now lost nine in a row.
Ridge Spring-Monetta got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of
A?Tear Tubazzah and
Jordyn Gilliam, who each put up two points.
JaiVell Taylor held things down on the boards with eight rebounds.
It was another big night for Aveion Walker, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and 13 rebounds for Denmark-Olar. That makes it four consecutive games in which Walker has scored at least a third of Denmark-Olar's points. Another player making a difference was Ry'Naisha Barnes, who scored 11 points along with four steals.
Ridge Spring-Monetta's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 7-12. As for Denmark-Olar, they pushed their record up to 13-3 with that victory, which was their 14th straight on the road.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Blackville-Hilda the next time they take the court. Denmark-Olar will host Blackville-Hilda at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, while Ridge Spring-Monetta will head out to face them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
