They escaped with a win against Memorial Lutheran by the margin of a single free throw, 56-55. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
When it comes to explaining why Memorial Lutheran lost, one person who can't be blamed is David Porter. Despite the final result, he scored 21 points. The game was Porter's third in a row with at least ten points. Benjamin Smith was another key contributor, scoring 10 points.
The victory got Beren Academy back to even at 1-1. As for Memorial Lutheran, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-2.
