The Nickerson Panthers struggled with offensive rebounds on Tuesday (the Kingman Eagles had 12 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Nickerson fell to Kingman 53-49. Nickerson has not had much luck with Kingman recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Nickerson still got an impressive performance from Alex King, who scored 14 points. Garrett Crossman was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Kingman's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chase Webster, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Webster is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zayden Volden, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Nickerson's loss dropped their record down to 2-9. As for Kingman, their victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-9.
Nickerson will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Pratt at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Pratt presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Nickerson in Kansas (Pratt is ranked 77th, while Nickerson is ranked 269th). As for Kingman, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Douglass at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
