Ty Sparks and Willis Knight provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Woodland. The connection went for 92 yards, the longest such play in 2A Region 5 this season.
Reeltown extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Loachapoka, 42-15. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Randolph County's dynamic duo of Sparks and Knight proved tough for the Bobcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sparks threw for 255 yards and three touchdowns and Knight had 142 yards receiving. Dontae Barrett helped Randolph County's passing attack out by catching two balls for 53 yards.
Cory Battle was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 11 carries, he ran for 101 yards as Horseshoe Bend fell to Woodland. Teammate Luke Holt added to the ground attack by rushing for 79 yards.
Chase Cheaney provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Generals beat Thorsby. He completed 18 passes for 250 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 65 yards. Cheaney's favorite target this week was Corey Glenn, who caught six passes for 102 yards.
Randolph County's Sparks and Knight have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 2A Region 5 in both passing and receiving yards. Sparks has thrown for 1021 yards this season, while Knight, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 23 catches for 409 yards. Horseshoe Bend's Battle leads the league in rushing yards with 819.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when LaFayette takes on Jason Franklin's team. The Bulldogs are in fifth place, while the Generals are in third place.
Horseshoe Bend took down the Rebels 48-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Cheaney in the win.
