Alexander Central has gone 6-1 against North Iredell recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Alexander Central Cougars will be playing in front of their home fans against the North Iredell Raiders at 2:30 p.m. Alexander Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Last Tuesday, Alexander Central didn't have quite enough to beat Marvin Ridge and fell 6-5. That's two games in a row now that the Cougars have lost by just one run.
Alexander Central got a good showing from Dillion Church, who tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Church has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
At the plate, Sawyer Chapman-Mays made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs while going 3-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Wade Queen, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, North Iredell entered their tilt with West Iredell on Friday with three consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with four. They walked away with a 10-5 win over the Warriors. While the Raiders didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-14), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
The team relied heavily on Hunter Baldwin, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Will Oehler was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3.
North Iredell pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Alexander Central, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Both Alexander Central and North Iredell just can't seem to miss. Alexander Central has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.8 hits per game. However, it's not like North Iredell struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.6 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Alexander Central skirted past North Iredell 3-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2019. Does Alexander Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Iredell turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
