On Wednesday, the New Year welcomed Jacksonville with a 63-33 whooping from Collinsville. Jacksonville was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-14.
Jacksonville lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being LaMarion Williams, who scored seven points. Williams set a new season high mark in steals with two. The team also got some help courtesy of Masen Johnson, who scored four points.
Collinsville got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nick Horras out in front who scored 20 points. Jamorie Wysinger was another key contributor, scoring 18 points.
Jacksonville's loss dropped their record down to 9-6. As for Collinsville, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 17-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Jacksonville will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Lanphier at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Lanphier will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 299th, while Jacksonville is ranked 136th). As for Collinsville, they will head out on the road to face off against Edwardsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Edwardsville is on a six-game streak of home wins, Collinsville a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
