The Christ's Church Academy Eagles will head out to square off against the Paxon School For Advanced Studies Golden Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Christ's Church Academy will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.
Christ's Church Academy lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Madison County, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Tuesday's matchup. The Eagles blew past the Cowboys 8-1 on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won seven games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Josh Stembridge looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jackson Vennard and Shawn Robinson did most of the damage at the plate: Vennard scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Robinson scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Robinson has become a key player for Christ's Church Academy: the team is 6-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-8 otherwise.
Meanwhile, Paxon School For Advanced Studies was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They fell 5-2 to Mandarin.
Paxon School For Advanced Studies saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Robert Bryson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one run.
Christ's Church Academy pushed their record up to 13-9 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Paxon School For Advanced Studies, their loss dropped their record down to 13-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Christ's Church Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Paxon School For Advanced Studies struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Christ's Church Academy skirted past Paxon School For Advanced Studies 4-3 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
