Basketball Recap: Sound Christian Piles Up the Points Against Chief Kitsap Academy

Sound Christian was handed a heart-breaking two-point defeat in their last game, but they sure didn't let that happen against Chief Kitsap Academy on Monday. The Sound Christian Lions really took it to the Chief Kitsap Academy Bears for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-19 victory. The matchup marked the Lions' most dominant win of the season so far.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sound Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Moses Stiver, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Stiver has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Makai Resseau was another key player, going 8 for 18 on his way to 22 points and six rebounds.

Sound Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in three consecutive contests.

Sound Christian's record now sits at 3-1. As for Chief Kitsap Academy, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sound Christian won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Evergreen Lutheran at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Sound Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Chief Kitsap Academy, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Neah Bay at 6:00 p.m. on January 15, 2025.
