Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Walnut Mustangs walked away with it. They enjoyed a cozy 31-17 win over Los Amigos on Friday. The win was familiar territory for Walnut who now have three in a row.
Walnut can attribute much of their success to Demetrius Stampley, who rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Stampley was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 67 yards. Brenden Neeley made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Walnut has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-6 record this season. As for Los Amigos, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Walnut will be playing in front of their home fans against San Bernardino at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Bernardino is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road. Los Amigos does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
