Moriarty was handed a heart-breaking two-run  defeat in their last  matchup, but they sure didn't let that happen against Pojoaque Valley  on Wednesday. The Pintos were the clear victors by  a  19-8 margin over the Elks/Elkettes. The  contest marked the Pintos' most dominant  victory of the  season.

 Evan Pacheco made a big impact no matter where he played. He  struck out seven batters over  5.1 innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   six  hits. He is becoming a predictor of Moriarty's success: when he allows at  most three  earned runs the team is 3-1 (and 1-6 when he doesn't). Pacheco was also big at the plate,  scoring two  runs while going 2-for-5. Those  two  runs gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news, Moriarty let  Trey Denomme and  Cash Klein run wild. Denomme  scored four  runs and  stole a base while going 3-for-5, while  Klein  went 3-for-6 with two  stolen bases, four  RBI,  and two  runs. Moriarty is 3-1 when  Klein posts two or  more  runs, but 1-6 otherwise.  Raiden Scribner also deserves some recognition as  he  hit his first  doubles of the season.
 Moriarty was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .442. That's the best  batting average they've posted all season.
 Meanwhile, Los Alamos made easy work of Santa Fe  last Wednesday and carried off  an  11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Hilltoppers, who have now won three games by ten  runs or more  so far this season.
 Los Alamos pushed their record up to 6-4 with the  victory, which was their 13th straight  at home dating back to last season. The  home  wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 13.0 runs over those games. As for Moriarty, their victory  ended  a  three-game drought on the road  and  puts them at 4-7.
 Moriarty suffered a grim  14-0 defeat to Los Alamos  when the teams last played  back in April of 2024. Can the Pintos avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
