5A Region II District 12 recap November 5, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rockwall-Heath, who defeated 57th ranked North Mesquite, 35-6. RJ Williams threw for 100 yards and ran for 125 yards in the win.
The Hawks moved up to 105 from 146 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region II District 12. Rockwall-Heath climbed the ranks as a result of beating the Stallions 35-6.
Shadavian Reed provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Mesquite fell to Rockwall. Reed's key target this week was Robert Blythe, who caught 9 passes for 124 yards.
Reed was a beast in the backfield as the Skeeters fell to the Yellowjackets.
Dezmond Chumley threw for 200 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 8-11 with 0 interceptions.
Reed was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 33 carries, he ran for 436 yards as Mesquite lost to Rockwall.
Horn's Destri White and Del'Michael High led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback White has thrown for 1,842 yards this season, while High has 43 catches for 630 yards. Robbie Robinson's team's Reed leads the league in rushing yards with 1,595.
Entering into this week's contest against North Mesquite, White is short just 158 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in 5A Region II District 12 this week will be when Horn takes on Mike Robinson's team. As it stands, Mike Overton's team is in second, while the Stallions are in third.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Longview beat Lee 63-7. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Lobos.
