The Uvalde Coyotes/Lobos (for girls) fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They managed a 24-20 win over Fredericksburg on Friday. For Uvalde, this counts as revenge for the 32-14 defeat Fredericksburg walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2022.
When it comes to explaining why Fredericksburg lost, one person who can't be blamed is Weston Herber. Despite the final result, he picked up 65 receiving yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 25 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Uvalde's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Fredericksburg, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Uvalde will be playing at home against San Antonio Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. San Antonio Memorial comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. As for Fredericksburg, they will head out on the road to face off against John F. Kennedy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. John F. Kennedy is out to stop a four-game streak of losses at home.
