The Liberty Lancers waltzed into their contest Thursday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past Falcon with points to spare, taking the game 45-28. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, as Liberty did.
Jacie Bunck was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds. The game was her seventh in a row with at least ten points. Ava Dawes was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Despite the loss, Falcon still got an impressive performance from Macey Fothergill, who scored eight points along with six steals. Fothergill is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.
Falcon struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Liberty's win bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Falcon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-3.
Liberty's road trip will continue as they head out to face Canon City at 4:00 p.m. on January 5th. As for Falcon, they will face off against Rampart at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Rampart focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
