The St. Michael Cardinals were the 36-35 winner over the Joseph City Wildcats when they last played one another back in February of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. St. Michael fell 46-37 to Joseph City on Saturday. St. Michael has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Joseph City to victory, but perhaps none more so than Ava Neill, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Jesmer, who scored six points along with five assists and three steals.
St. Michael's loss dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Joseph City, their victory bumped their record up to 9-5.
St. Michael will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Ash Fork at 5:30 p.m. Hopefully Ash Fork focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 37 on Wednesday. Joseph City is on the road again on Saturday and play against Blue Ridge at 1:30 p.m. on December 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Arizona (Blue Ridge is ranked 42nd, while Joseph City is ranked 62nd).
