The Union Catholic Vikings were the 44-42 winner over the Elizabeth Minutemen when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Union Catholic fell 58-47 to Elizabeth on Thursday. While losing is never fun, Union Catholic can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 73rd, while Elizabeth is ranked 19th).
London Carson was his usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds for Elizabeth. The match was Carson's tenth in a row with at least ten points. Cameron Mcrae was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Union Catholic now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Elizabeth, they pushed their record up to 8-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home.
Union Catholic will take on Morris Knolls at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Morris Knolls will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Elizabeth, they will take on Colonia at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. Colonia has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 185 points over their last three matchups.
