The Pettus Eagles''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Woodsboro, falling 41-14. Pettus has struggled against Woodsboro recently, as their game on Friday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Nathan Orr rushed for 45 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 28 yards and a touchdown.
Amarian Zambezi went supernova for Woodsboro, rushing for 263 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 13.2 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Brenner Kurtz, who rushed for 107 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Pettus to a paltry 113 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Woodsboro's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Leading the way was Gage Veselka and his two sacks.
Pettus has not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Woodsboro, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-6.
Pettus will take on Brackett at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brackett knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six matchups -- so hopefully Pettus likes a good challenge. As for Woodsboro, they will face off against Rocksprings at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Rocksprings is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
