Two dominant  backs in  Tazayvion Townsend and  B.J. Brown are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Newton Tigers will host the Richton Rebels  at 7:00  p.m.  on Thursday. Newton will be strutting in after a  victory while Richton will be coming in after a  loss.

Newton had a senior duo take command as  Jymarques Holder rushed for 100 yards and one  touchdown on only seven carries and  Daishon Moncrief rushed for 54 yards and a pair of  TDs. Holder's longest rush was for an impressive 53 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total.
 Newton was unstoppable on the ground and  finished the game with 272  rushing yards. That's the most  rushing yards they've managed all season.
 Meanwhile, Richton was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their third straight  loss. They lost  38-12 to Taylorsville. The Rebels were down  32-6 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
 Newton's  victory was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 2-7. As for Richton, they now  have a losing record of 4-5.
