The Oceanside Mariners put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Morse 96-63 on the road. Given Oceanside's advantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Morse is ranked 89th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Oceanside's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carter Galley, who dropped a double-double on 31 points and 15 rebounds. Galley is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Cohen Galley was another key contributor, scoring 25 points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Oceanside pushed their record up to 12-0 with that victory, which was their 11th straight on the road. As for Morse, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
Oceanside will be playing in front of their home fans against Lincoln Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lincoln Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Morse, they will head out on the road to square off against Leavitt at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Leavitt has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
