5A Division III Northern Top Player Performances of the Week
Congratulations to this week's top players! We're covering the best performances from Friday's football action (using all statistics entered as of the time of writing). Enjoy!
Big Game from Craig As Damonte Ranch Won 35-0
Starting off the list is Damonte Ranch's Kobe Craig, who we judged to be the best player in the league this week. Craig rushed for 168 yards and two touchdowns. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 145 rushing yards dating back to last season.
Unfortunately for North Valleys, this isn't the first big game they've seen from Craig. When Craig last faced the Panthers back in August of 2023, he rushed for 142 yards and a touchdown on only 14 carries.

Colson Kermode and Co. Win Third in a Row
Galena picked up their third consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to Colson Kermode. Kermode did his part (and then some), throwing for 126 yards and a touchdown, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground for the 'W'.
Kermode and Galena will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hug at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th. The Grizzlies got just the result they wanted when they last faced the Hawks, probably because Kermode had a solid game then too: he threw for 122 yards and two touchdowns on only ten passes. Can he match (or beat) that performance?

Zach Scott Makes It Two for Damonte Ranch
The second Damonte Ranch player making an appearance here is Zach Scott, and for good reason. He picked up 30 receiving yards.
On the season, Scott has averaged 3.3 total tackles per game and for the season has 2 sacks. That doesn't tell the whole story though: at this point last year, he was only averaging 1.67 receiving yards per game. This year he is averaging 10.17 receiving yards.

Eric Martinez Turns in Season-Best Performance
Sadly, Eric Martinez posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead North Valleys over Damonte Ranch on Friday. Martinez made 18 total tackles and snagged an interception. He is becoming a predictor of North Valleys' success: when he posts at least four total tackles the team is 2-1 (and 1-4 when he doesn't).
North Valleys' loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5. Martinez and North Valleys will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Carson at 7:00 p.m. on October 18th.
