The Sanderson Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 51-33 fall against Cary. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Sanderson in their matchups with Cary: they've now lost three in a row.
Several Spartans players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Summer Haith, who scored 12 points. The matchup was Haith's third in a row with at least ten points. Amyah Lynn was another key contributor, scoring 8 points along with 5 rebounds.
Leading Cary to victory were Nadia Snesarev and Kyndall Brewington. Snesarev scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals, while Brewington scored 16 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Another player making a difference was Luci Augustson, who scored 8 points along with 14 rebounds and 3 steals.
Sanderson's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Cary, their win bumped their record up to 1-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sanderson will square off against Clayton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cary, they will head out on the road to face off against Athens Drive at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Athens Drive focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Wednesday.
