Canton is 10-0 against Potsdam since January of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Canton Golden Bears will be home for the holidays to greet the Potsdam Sandstoners at 7:15 p.m. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, Canton's game was all tied up 29-29 at the half, but luckily for them it didn't stay that way. They snuck past Franklin Academy with a 49-44 win.
Meanwhile, Potsdam put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Salmon River at home to the tune of 80-24. Potsdam's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Potsdam found their leader in underclassman Ian VanWagner, who went 8 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 44 points and 3 assists. That makes it five consecutive games in which VanWagner has scored at least 25% of Potsdam's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ilahn Maroun, who scored seven points.
Canton's victory bumped their record up to 1-2. As for Potsdam, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
Canton came out on top in a nail-biter against Potsdam in their previous meeting back in February, sneaking past 45-42. Will Canton repeat their success, or does Potsdam have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
