A Season-Best Effort from Ty Jones Leads Lakeside over Brunswick
Lakeside came up short on Friday despite Ty Jones delivering his best game to date. Jones rushed for 203 yards and a touchdown on only 15 carries, and also threw for 247 yards and two touchdowns, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: he has now rushed for 101 or more in the last seven games he's played.
Brunswick had to have seen this coming; the last time they saw Jones it was a similar story. Back in October of 2023 (the last time Jones saw the Pirates), he rushed for 75 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries, and also threw for 177 yards and a touchdown.

Grant Moore produced his most outstanding game to date while leading Brunswick to the win on Friday. Moore threw for 282 yards and two touchdowns while completing 88.2% of his passes, and also rushed for 97 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process.

Brunswick picked up their seventh consecutive win on Friday thanks in part to William Heck. Nobody could stop Heck as he rushed for 177 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry.
For the year, Heck has run in 8 touchdowns while averaging 132.4 rushing yards per game. He's made a big improvement compared to last season: at this point last year, he was only averaging 67.75 rushing yards per game.

Sadly, Jeremy Howard posting his best game of the season wasn't enough to lead Evans over Statesboro on Friday. Howard rushed for 163 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. His longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards.
For the season, Howard has run in 3 touchdowns while averaging 66.1 rushing yards per game. He is looking even better than he did last year: after seven games last season, he was only averaging 24.86 rushing yards per game.

Big Game from Perkins As Effingham County Won 37-7
Rounding off our Top Five is Tucker Perkins of Effingham County. Perkins threw for 272 yards and four touchdowns. He has been hot recently, having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last four times he's played.
Effingham County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-4 record this season. Perkins and Effingham County will face off against Glynn Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
