The Dundalk Owls will challenge the Catonsville Comets at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Dundalk is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.2 runs per game this season.
Dundalk is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Patapsco on Monday as they made off with a 21-2 victory. The Owls haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Leiliani Ganzermiller was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Dundalk let Hayden Wiatrowski and Makayla Woods run wild. Wiatrowski went 3-for-4 with four runs and four RBI, while Woods got on base in five of her six plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs Woods has posted since back in May of 2025. Savannah Locklear was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with three RBI and two runs.
Dundalk always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .622. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Catonsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Mount de Sales Academy, falling 14-1.
Catonsville saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emily Meiller, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.
Catonsville now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Dundalk, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-4.
Wednesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Dundalk has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .446. However, it's not like Catonsville struggles in that department as they've averaged .459. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dundalk suffered a grim 12-5 defeat to Catonsville in their previous meeting back in April of 2025. Can the Owls avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
