Williamstown and Doddridge County are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Yellowjackets will challenge the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Williamstown is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
Williamstown is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to ten runs last Wednesday, they were much more limited against Tyler on Wednesday. They fell 5-2 to the Knights. Williamstown saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Elli Hanlon, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, Doddridge County posted their closest win since March 26th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Gilmer County 8-7. The victory continues a trend for the Bulldogs in their matchups with the Titans: they've now won four in a row.
Tessa Mayle spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Olivia See and Brooke Dehaven did most of the damage at the plate: See scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Dehaven scored two runs and stole three bases. See has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maysun Gagnon, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Thursday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Williamstown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .463. However, it's not like Doddridge County struggles in that department as they've averaged .491. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Williamstown might still be hurting after the 18-2 loss they got from Doddridge County when the teams last played back in March. Can the Yellowjackets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
