Baseball Recap: Sunrise Mountain Gets the Win

While Sunrise Mountain's win against Mingus wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Mustangs sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 victory over the Marauders on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Marauders: they've now won three in a row.

Easton Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March of 2025. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

In other pitching news, Gabriel Escobar looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.

Back at the plate, Jacob Pacimeo was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.

Sunrise Mountain now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mingus, they are on a seven-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-2.

Coming up, Sunrise Mountain will challenge Paradise Valley at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Mingus has already played their next contest (against Pinnacle), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
