The Amelia Academy Patriots will head out on the road to face off against the Fuqua Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Amelia Academy is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses.
Last Wednesday, Amelia Academy had to suffer through a rough 81-40 loss at the hands of Brunswick Academy. Amelia Academy has not had much luck with Brunswick Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Troy Hill, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jacob Barbour, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Fuqua, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 50-33 loss to Southampton Academy on Tuesday.
Despite the loss, Fuqua had strong showings from Mason Pleasants, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds, and Sam Minix, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 15 rebounds. That's the first time this season that Pleasants pulled down eight or more rebounds.
Amelia Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Fuqua, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-10 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Amelia Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Fuqua struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28.2 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
