Broken Arrow has gone a perfect 8-0 against Yukon recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Tigers will head out to square off against the Millers at 7:00 p.m.
Broken Arrow is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Oklahoma's top teams: Owasso, who was ranked fourth at the time (Broken Arrow was ranked 17th). The Tigers took a hard 28-14 fall against the Rams on Friday. The Tigers have struggled against the Rams recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jeramiah Ssettimba, who rushed for 44 yards and one score, and also threw for 175 yards on 15 of 23 attempts. A healthy portion of Ssettimba's aerial production (84 yards to be exact) went to Samaj Stanford.
Meanwhile, Yukon hadn't done well against Westmoore recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Millers put the hurt on the Jaguars with a sharp 49-24 win. The Millers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Broken Arrow better focus on containing Prince Shelburn and Wyatt Jones as the pair were huge in Yukon's win. Shelburn rushed for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns while picking up 7.6 yards per carry, while Jones rushed for 101 yards and one TD on only nine carries. Shelburn is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 101 every time he's taken the field this season.
Yukon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 452 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
The victory made it two in a row for Yukon and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.5 points over those games. As for Broken Arrow, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Broken Arrow has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 175.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Yukon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 272 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Broken Arrow strolled past Yukon when the teams last played back in October of 2024 by a score of 42-28. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Millers' Kenison Rogers, who picked up 139 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Tigers to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
