The Jones Fightin' Tigers had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They snuck past Lake Minneola with a 56-51 victory. That's two games straight that Jones has won by exactly five points.
Jones got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Keishaun Robinson out in front who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 18 rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Buckley, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Jones' win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Lake Minneola, they now have a losing record at 6-7.
Jones' road trip will continue as they head out to face Boone on January 9th. Hopefully Boone focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 last Friday. Lake Minneola won't have much time to rest: their next match is against East Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. East Ridge is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
