While Boyd-Buchanan's win against Hixson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Buccaneers sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Wildcats on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Buccaneers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won six in a row.

Peyton Schwieter tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Boyd-Buchanan saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Baker, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base.

Boyd-Buchanan's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Hixson, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-14-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boyd-Buchanan will venture away from home to square off against Soddy Daisy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hixson, they will head out to take on Sale Creek at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The Wildcats are facing the Panthers at the right time seeing as the Panthers are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
