Dr. Phillips (Orlando, Fla.) kept up a steady attack all game long to defeat
Wharton (Tampa, Fla.), 37-10, on Saturday.
After taking the lead on an
Alvin Bryant touchdown run in the second quarter, the Panthers led 14-3 at the half.
Dr. Phillips expanded its lead to 21 points entering the fourth quarter. DP scored two times in the third, including once on a touchdown run.
With the win the Orlando school extended its winning streak to 11 games. Dr. Phillips defeated Winter Park 38-7 last week.
Wharton's only touchdown came on a run in the fourth quarter.
The Panthers went into the matchup giving up only 9.9 points per game. The 10 points that the Wildcats ended with were well below their average of 24.1 coming into the game.
Dr. Phillips also won the meeting between the two teams last season, 28-15.
The defeat comes as a step back for Wharton, which notched a 30-23 victory over Bloomingdale in its previous outing.
