Grace Balas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Quincy Bruner was a standout: she got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Kinley Peterson was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Central McLean [Turtle Lake-Mercer/Underwood/McClusky] had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with an 11-7 win over Nedrose on Tuesday.
