On Monday, Hartfield Academy faced Cathedral in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Everything went the Hartfield Academy Hawks' way against the Cathedral Green Wave as the Hartfield Academy Hawks made off with  a  9-1 victory. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven  runs or more this season.
 Cope Burnham looked comfortable as he  tossed 2.2 innings while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. The dominant performance also gave  him a new career-high in  strikeouts (five).
 On the hitting side,  JP Abt was  incredible,  going 2-for-4 with three  stolen bases, three  runs,  and three  RBI. That's the most  stolen bases  he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was  Graham Jackson, who  scored a  run while  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances.
Hartfield Academy's win was  their fifth straight on the road, which  pushed their record up to 11-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Cathedral,  the  defeat snapped their winning streak at seven games  dating back to last season and leaves them with a 6-1 record.
 Coming up, Hartfield Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Jackson Prep  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. Hartfield Academy's pitching crew has only allowed 2.2  runs per game  this season, so Jackson Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Cathedral, they will head out to  take on Hartfield Academy  at 6:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
