If the Rosa Fort Lions were riding high off their 52-30 takedown of the Leland Cubs last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Rosa Fort took a 60-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lake Cormorant. Rosa Fort was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Lake Cormorant apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2016.
Rosa Fort's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carlos Smith, who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Robert Boyd, who scored 12 points.
Rosa Fort's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Lake Cormorant, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.
Rosa Fort will head out on the road to face off against Clarksdale at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Clarksdale focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Tuesday. As for Lake Cormorant, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Southaven at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Southaven is ranked 40th, while Lake Cormorant is ranked 51st).
