West Marion is on a four-game streak of home wins, while St. Stanislaus is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The West Marion Trojans will take on the St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but West Marion ultimately got the result they hoped for two weeks ago. They slipped by Perry Central 35-34. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but West Marion was the better team in the second half.
Meanwhile, St. Stanislaus can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They beat Perry Central by the very same score they won with last week: 42-7. Given St. Stanislaus' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 42nd, while Perry Central is ranked 217th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ian Gael gonz?lez rioz, who threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in two touchdowns on the ground. Isaiah Haynes was another key contributor, rushing for 103 yards and a touchdown on only 12 carries.
Their wins bumped West Marion to 4-4 and St. Stanislaus to 7-1.
West Marion might still be hurting after the 30-6 defeat they got from St. Stanislaus in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for West Marion, Chandler Chapman (who rushed for 154 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.7 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
