JORDYNN PARNELL was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 4-for-5 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, PAIGE FORD and KAYLEIGH SMITH did most of the damage at the plate: FORD got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and three runs, while SMITH went 3-for-4 with four RBI and one double. Those four RBI gave SMITH a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of CAILEY SPENCE, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
South View always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jack Britt only posted an OBP of .323.
Meanwhile, Scotland put their dominant pitchers on display in the team's third consecutive shutout on Tuesday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Richmond a 15-0 shutout. The victory continues a trend for the Fighting Scots in their matchups with the Raiders: they've now won eight in a row.
Khloe Radford was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Marissa Smith was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
South View's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Scotland, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South View hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .424. However, it's not like Scotland struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
South View was able to grind out a solid win over Scotland in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, winning 6-2. Will South View repeat their success, or does Scotland has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
