On Friday, Center Point-Urbana are packing up and heading on the road for the first time this season. They face off against Mt. Vernon at 7:30 PM. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Center Point-Urbana, but that can only make success all the sweeter.
Center Point-Urbana took care of business in their home opener. They captured a comfortable 20-2 win over Central Clinton/Calamus-Wheatland.
Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon had to kick off their season with an away game, and unfortunately wound up with a long bus ride home. They lost to Solon by a decisive 14-34 margin.
Center Point-Urbana's victory lifted them to 1-0 while Mt. Vernon's loss dropped them down to 0-1. We'll find out if Center Point-Urbana can add another positive mark to their record or if Mt. Vernon can shake off the loss and take the spring out of Center Point-Urbana's step.
